Ricky & Sallie, yes, I agree that beans would be the way to go in Florida. I guess you will just have to eat your peas from a can. :0) I have to eat my oranges from Florida. Certain things just taste better grown in certain parts of the country. Most of the fruit commercial orchards are apple here in Nebraska. We can grow peach, apricot, and pear but it's a toss up as to whether that last frost will nip the buds and then it will be a no fruit year. On the years that they do have fruit it's always a great year. ***** Our growing season here is from May 15th to October 15th. Of course there are plenty of folks that push the limit with frost protection but in my experience it really doesn't put them that much ahead of the curve. Gardening is all about experimenting with plants to see which ones and which methods do the best. ***** Have a great day in the garden.
