Hi Quinn. I'll answer your storage questions here. I don't get enough from my gardens to store over the winter. I do have carrots and winter squash but only enough that fridge storage is adequate. The one year that I went crazy with preserving things for the winter, I bought stuff at the farmer's market like you plan to do. I mostly preserved berries and peaches but I also included broccoli. I bought a book called Preserving the Harvest and it gives instruction about all ways to preserve food. I chose to freeze everything which means blanching the broccoli, making a bit of a syrup for the peaches, etc. I was more comfortable with freezing than canning and I think the results are more like fresh than with canning. The peaches came out tasting like summer! The last couple of years I haven't really found the time to do all that but I will again when I no longer spend so much of my time on my day job. The market is on right now only steps away from my front door. Hm. What could I do this weekend?
