  Just growing cukes and some cherry tomatoes this year. I think I let the first cuke grow too long it was a bit too meaty.

  Hi, thanks everyone. My dog is a yellow Labrador Retriever. When the chicks first arrived I held them in front of him and told him they are his babies and he has to protect them.
  
  He sniffed them a bit. And he spent time with them when I was around to supervise.
  
  He never bothered them after that! The hens seem to know the difference between him and my mother's. They don't run from him but the will when my mom's dog is here.

  Good question from Lisa! My husband and I are thinking seriously of buying a farm with chickens but we do have a dog....
