Location:  Millwood, WA

The Digs:  Backyard, Community Garden

Crops:  Apples, Bell Peppers, Carrots, Chile Peppers, Cucumbers, Green beans, Kale, Lettuce, Melons, Mint, Pears, Peas, Potatoes, Pumpkins, Raspberries, Strawberries, Tomatoes

Animals:  Chickens, Rabbits

Why I'm Getting Dirty:  For my family, it's a combination of things: Several years ago, we found out my daughter had a strong reaction to artificial food dyes. Since that time, we've continued to dig deeper and deeper into exploring what it is we really put in our bodies. This, coupled with a strong desire to be engaged in our community, has really been the driving force behind our "urban farm" exploration and development.

I have two children with severe food allergies and I've wondered if they would have developed these allergies if I really watched where my food was coming from and what I was eating. I figure, better late than never and now we are focusing on growing our own food. Contratulations of Farmer of the day!

I think it is great that you are taking such an interest in where your food comes from! in your picture is a metal building in the back ground, is this your house?
