Why I'm Getting Dirty: For my family, it's a combination of things: Several years ago, we found out my daughter had a strong reaction to artificial food dyes. Since that time, we've continued to dig deeper and deeper into exploring what it is we really put in our bodies. This, coupled with a strong desire to be engaged in our community, has really been the driving force behind our "urban farm" exploration and development.

I posted progress pictures... ...my Summer labors... ...chicken yard with log-cabin style chicken coop... ...used rounded garden timbers for body and recycled playhouse roof for roof/lid... ...rain shelter on side with old mimosa limbs for perches... ...chicken yard built around fruit trees... ...fence edged with yellow lantana...

I have two children with severe food allergies and I've wondered if they would have developed these allergies if I really watched where my food was coming from and what I was eating. I figure, better late than never and now we are focusing on growing our own food. Contratulations of Farmer of the day!
