  So this year we planted heritage plants. Amazing results! We have pink tomatoes, white eggplant, and early Hanover melon along with HUGE white "ghost" pumpkins! Loving this year and all the fruits of the season. Thanks to my daughter for digging, planting and tending while I returned to work. Love you!

  OK, so next year I am NOT replanting/moving volunteer tomatoes! We probably had four bushels total with the six plants we purchased...then we added three volunteers from last season and one granddaughter grew. OMGosh! Our corn was a fail, but only because of the Japanese beetles. Now that I know not to let them eat the corn silk, next year will rock. I had at least 60 ears of corn. Then there is the tale of Zuccorni...planting zucchini and acorn squash too close together; a delightful and prolific (thanks Zuke!) mix of easy to cut and sweeter than zucchini squash to grill! Baking, not so much! On to next year!

  Weeds and bugs are at record levels here in Nebraska too. Mosquitoes are Northern Minnesota size and literally come up out of the grass because there's been so much rain here. We got half our annual rainfall in June. What a crazy year.
