  Yay VT peeps! Speaking of peeps...is that a chicken house in the background of your pic? We've got chickens for the first time this year...I can't wait to start collecting eggs:)! Have a great summer day!

  Hey MommaLeah,
  I saw your question on Bee Green's page about bees and getting stung, but did not see an asnswer. We have three hives in our backyard. I have personally been stung several times-- mostly b/c of my own negligence regarding wearing protective equipment. My wife and three kids have never been stung.
  
  When away from the hives the bees are only interested in food and don't bother people. They sting when they are defending their home. So the only time I'm at all concerned is when I'm close to the hives, which we have far enough away from the house to keep the kids away.
  It's been a great hobby and quite the addition to our yard.

  MammaLeah, there's something terribly wrong with the message part of this Website. I will definitely keep folks in the loop about defeating the evil vine bore that gives great disappointments in the squash world.
  
  It's been extremely hot here the last few days. I've been watering the garden twice a day for the last couple days. Yesterday I gave it a one inch overall aerial watering in addition to the daily drip watering. The plants seem to be fairing quite well. Even the lettuce seems to still be hanging in there which is quite amazing.

  I have been thinking about the chickens for a while. We live in a neighborhood where the lot sizes are between 1 to 3 acres. Our lot size is about 1 1/2 acres. We are about 2 miles outside the city limits and we do not have any zoning restrictions. We also do not have a HOA. Which is great! But will all of that said we are trying to considerate to the neighbors. My youngest son is home from college for the summer and he is helping me look into the coops and where the best place to put the coop. (Both boys are agriculture majors.) I will keep you up to date on the progress!

  Congratulations on Farmer of the Month. It's been a dry spring here in Nebraska up until this past week. We are finally getting some rain. My radishes, beets, and peas are sprouting. Many seedlings started last month are doing great. Planted some beans yesterday. Probably put in potatoes and 30 strawberry plants on Good Friday. Have a nice day.

  good morning! When you speak of blue indigo are you talking about baptisma, false indigo? That is one of my most favorite plants, gets the black seed pods? SOunds like you recently moved to his house so you don't know what to expect this year...sweet, you have a clear pallet to create you own space. Yesterday my sister and I went to the nursery so I bought my first annuals, beautiful black & yellow petunias (new this year) so I will get some pots put together today along with giving Opie his first bath this summer...can't believe it's going to be so hot today. Crazy weather in Illinois this weekend! Ok goin plantain...enjoy you day!
