Day Job:  homeschooling mom/ Garden Coordinator for BCS Teaching Garden, a nonprofit

Crops:  Apples, Basil, Bell Peppers, Black currants, Blackberries, Blueberries, Bok-choy, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Chinese cabbage, Collards, Corn, Cucumbers, Figs, Filbert (Hazelnut), Garlic, Grapes, Green beans, Kale, Lavender, Lettuce, Melons, Mint, Mustard Greens, Oregano, Peas, Potatoes, Pumpkins, Raspberries, Rosemary, Strawberries, Sugar Snap Peas, Thyme, Tomatoes, Turnips, Beets, leeks, apricots, jostaberries, huckleberries, salal,thimbleberries, silverberries, quince, persimmon, hardy kiwi, eggplant, lima beans, fennel, French tarragon, Oregon Grape, Italian Plum, Japanese Plums, amaranth, Sunflowers, fava beans, red and white currants, artichokes, cardoon

Animals:  Chickens, we will be adding Runner ducks later this year, as well.

Why I'm Getting Dirty:  We live on a 1/4 acre city lot in the city. We're remaking our yard into a permaculture-inspired edible landscape in order to grow our own food sustainably, build community and feed others, and because we love it! We run a nonprofit garden for Birch Community Services (the Teaching Garden), and with a set of volunteers, grow organic, heirloom produce for 650 needy families in Portland.     I'm impressed that you can get your artichokes to grow! We live in the same area, and I haven't had any luck with them so far.
