Crops: Apples, Basil, Bell Peppers, Bok-choy, Broccoli, Carrots, Celery, Cherries, Cucumbers, Garlic, Green beans, Jalepeno Peppers, Lettuce, Melons, Oregano, Peas, Pumpkins, Raspberries, Rosemary, Spinach, Strawberries, Sugar Snap Peas, Thyme, Tomatoes

Why I'm Getting Dirty: I'm living on a great property in an unincorporated area, begging for huge garden/farm, and hopefully, a bit of livestock soon! Trying to get back to nature, go green, and live a more sustainable way of life. Current interests, as of 2/2011, are composting (my bin is not going so well), starting seeds indoors for this year's crops, learning more about canning--so that this year's harvest can last through next winter, and researching how to raise & care for chickens.

Thanks Wong! Trying to get in all of my tomato plants--a little late I know, but this was such a weird winter and spring, I didn't know what to expect! Now they are sweltering in our very hot drought.

Planting some garlic and shallots today. If anyone knows about pest control, I'd be interested. When my shipment of bulbs was delivered, we came home to find a couple of chipmunks on our front porch trying to break into the box! I'm wondering if they'll be going after the bulbs once they are planted. I thought garlic was supposed to be a good deterrent of critters, but the way those chipmunks attacked that package, I'm not so sure...

Brittney, would you know a good way to transport my rhubard, horseradish and comfrey when I move? Dig up and take the whole plant or take root cuttings of each one, and the crowns of the rhubarb?

I am not really sure yet, the poperty is at 7800 ft so it will be different than here, 4600 ft. I would assume the growing season is shorter but I will keep you posted.
