Animals:  Cats, Chickens, Dogs, Ducks

Why I'm Getting Dirty:  I want my kids to know where the food we're eating comes from, and to be as self reliant as we can.

    congratulations on being farmer of the day, and good for you for teaching your kids about where food comes from! I'm always horrified when my college freshmen don't know that a carrot is a root.

    Good for you to teach your kids not only reading, writing, and arithmetic but also about where food comes from. I'm always amazed to find kids that don't know where a french fry comes from. My grandson was shocked that Mc Donald's french fries came from a potato and that a potato grew under the ground.

    Hi HippyChick! Love the name. We homeschool as well. I am not sure if you have checked out PBS- they have Food Inc. and lesson plans that go along with it from POV on their site (point of view).
