Byrnes Downs Verge Garden

Location:  Charleston, SC

Day Job:  landscape architect

The Digs:  Backyard, Other

Crops:  Basil, Bell Peppers, Blackberries, Blueberries, Carrots, Chile Peppers, Cucumbers, Figs, Jalepeno Peppers, Lavender, Lettuce, Melons, Mint, Peas, Potatoes, Rosemary, Strawberries, Tomatoes

Animals:  Dogs

Why I'm Getting Dirty:  My partner, Elizabeth Beak and I wanted to raise our own food but the yard is very shaded. Growing in the public right-of-way was our only option. We had to get an encroachment permit from the City -- the first of its kind in our area.
