Funny! I had just voted for you yesterday! Anyway, here's my vote again.
Had stayed in Auburn one year, while skiing at Sunday River. Had also gone skiing at Mt. Abrams (where I had my first skiing accident, just a twisted knee). One of my desire is to go visit Johnny's Selected Seeds in Winslow. Maybe on my way to (one of these days!) PEI. And of course, not to miss Vessey Seeds in York while at PEI.
Another couple of months & wild Maine blueberries will be out in the market. Can't wait!

Good luck with the garden this year (and, of course every year thereafter).

Greeting fellow farmers, This summer has cooled off considerable this August, here in Maine. July had two weeks of "wicked hot" temps in the 90's, but lately we've topped out at upper 70's. It was so hot that I actually had green peppers get to full size! This year I focused on salad makings, harvesting several types of lettuce, cherry tomatoes and green peppers. The herbs: basil, oregano and chives season our homemade salad dressings. It's good to be a farmer.

Gardening in the yard is very rewarding. Keep up the good work.

Town Flower Farm, how did you do with the sale of your place?

  • Posted by: Town Flower Farm on August 11th, 2012 at 11:15 am

so, after months of working on the place, our house with it's .23 acres (Town Flower Farm) is for sale and our first showing is next Tuesday. It took some doing to find a realtor that would buy into marketing it as an urban farm. Most felt it would be more likely to put off potential buyers. I'm thinking it will narrow the field down to only those buyers that won't be put off by the gardens and the nice piles of compost and kindling. My dream home would be a townhouse in downtown Portland with a flat roof so we could put in a rooftop garden with a bird feeder and bird bath. We'll trade in squirrels for pigeons and I'll still have a Town Flower Farm.
