Still clearing brush from the community garden. I'm hoping that the plants and materials will be delivered this week. I have a bad feeling that I'm becoming the neighborhood babysitter!

I got more chicks a couple of weeks ago and my brother built a top bar beehive for me. The city gave me a grant to start a community garden. I plan to focus on the neighborhood kids and their families. The minimum goal is to raise 300 pounds of produce and give away 150 pounds of that. This will be quite exciting and somewhat scary!

Congratulations on Farmer of the Day. I agree with your statement about how little kids know about food sources. Communities are working harder at education and gardening in schools and neighborhoods now. I am glad.

I finally got 5 eggs in 1 day! I've been told someone is considering getting me more chickens! Where will I put them? Thinking ahead to winter and I might try using my greenhouse for the chickens. We'll see.

I've been getting 2-3 eggs per day, but I only got 1 egg today. Most of them are small, but I've gotten 2 double yolked eggs so far.

I got my first eggs. 1 of them was the size of a walnut and had a very soft shell. 3 are small eggs and 1 was a large egg. Here's hoping they all lay today!
