So what is the story with the donkey in the well?

Perhaps it is the joke about the farmer that gets mad at the donkey and throws it down the well... then can not figure out what to do so he decides to bury it... the donkey says no way is he going to give up and just keeps stomping on the dirt that the farmer is shoveling in on him.. .until finally there is enough dirt under the donkey that he can make his way out... Moral... as long as they are throwing dirt on you, you can still climb your way back out.. or somthing to that effect! LOL
