Why I'm Getting Dirty: I love the satisfaction of eating food that I've produced myself. My favorite meals are the ones where I can look at my plate and know nothing came from the store. We live in a suburban/rural area, but have returned most of our property to wildlife habitat, and are intensively using a small lot, planting raised beds, collecting rainwater, and using the composted materials that come from our chickens and the llamas we board for a friend. we've been able to donate or sell surplus veggies and eggs to the co op, and hope to expand a little more each year. my ultimate goal is to be able to not purchase food for a year.
