Aquaponic Greenhouse

Location:  Boulder, CO

Day Job:  President, The Aquaponic Source

The Digs:  Backyard

Crops:  Basil, Bell Peppers, Broccoli, Celery, Chile Peppers, Cucumbers, Kale, Kohlrabi, Lettuce, Mint, Oregano, Strawberries, Thyme, Tomatoes

Animals:  Tilapia

Why I'm Getting Dirty:  Maybe the better question for me is Why do I love fish poop? The reason is that my entire greenhouse is run using Aquaponics. I grow plants in a soil-less media with nothing other than fish waste. The plants then filter the water that is returned to the fish tank. Super productive and uses less than 10% of the water of traditional soil gardening.

I am trying to interest a couple of friends in the aquaponics as they want to cut there water use and also produce more for the family.

Congratulations, Farmer of the Day! What a wonderful system you have. I would love to learn more and put it into practice myself some day.

Congrats on being Farmer of the Day! I think I've seen you before? Maybe on youtube? You have a website? I know I've seen you somewhere in my surfing of the net on aquaponics! Have a Happy New Year!
