@City Girl Garden. I grow my basil in large 5 gallon containers. I drilled a few holes in the bottom for air, use Miracle Grow for the soil, put in a sunny location, don't let the soil dry out completely and it has given me a great crop.

I noticed that you seem to have good luck growing basil. Any tips? Mine seems to be slow growing. I have tried planting in the beds this year, but I am not having any luck with it. It gets about 3 to 4 inches tall and just seems to wilt. Hope your garden is doing great this Spring!

I don't use Mel's mix in my bed--just compost from the city of Raleigh's yard waste center off New Hope Rd, our rabbit's 'fertilizer,' our own compost, and shredded leaves. do you use Mel's mix? what do you think?
