Location:  Elkhart, IN

Day Job:  education

The Digs:  Backyard

Crops:  Broccoli, Carrots, Chile Peppers, Cucumbers, Garlic, Jalepeno Peppers, Lavender, Oregano, Potatoes, Rosemary, Squash, Strawberries, Thyme, Tomatoes

Animals:  Cats, Dogs, Rabbits

Why I'm Getting Dirty:  We live in the city. When hard economic times hit we new we needed to take things to a new level of sustainability. We planted a big garden and joined a CSA as a work share. We work six hours a week on the farm for a full share from the CSA. We are canning and freezing everything we do not eat and starting rabbits in a week or two. I am 42 years old with 4 kids and a long term boyfriend (8years). I am in school to teach High School science and looking to get a minor in sustainability. I love sharing all the things we do to save money and the planet at the same time. My children work the farm with us (required) but are learning valuable lessons in the process.

I love that you are working in exchange for your CSA! I'm going to research that here in Indy. :)
