"little farm in the city"

Location:  Wheat Ridge, CO

Day Job:  Realtor , Oil & Gas Lease Analyst

The Digs:  Backyard

Crops:  Basil, Bell Peppers, Cherries, Chile Peppers, Cucumbers, Garlic, Grapes, Kale, Lettuce, Mint, Peaches, Raspberries, Spinach, Squash, Strawberries, Tomatoes

Animals:  Chickens, Dogs, Llamas

Why I'm Getting Dirty:  Having grown up overseas, we did not have a yard, nor did I grow up with a dog or a cat. We had a parakeet named Sammie until the maid got locked out over Chinese New Year while we were traveling and he died. We had a long balcony with potted plants. Maybe I'm making up for lost dreams. I love to make things beautiful and a vegetable garden was in my budget, when I first started gardening. We now have the space and feel I would be wasting my blessings, if I didn't make it productive as well as beautiful. The bug to make our large yard "a little farm in the city" happened one evening while I was reading Mother Earth News in bed. My husband said, "No chickens", so I ordered eight chicks with a gal on Craig's List who did not want 25 and wanted to place an order with the hatchery. We were "gifted" the Llamas, six months later by one of my clients....

What fun! You actually have space for llamas! And you're allowed to have them in the city?
