Comments On - The Dervaes Family: Pioneering the Urban Farm

8700 sq ft is not that big. But shows, carefully organized, it can be very productive.

I wish they did awesome things without being religious nut jobs and without attacking others who are doing awesome things. I have no respect for them. It's as if they believe that their light shines less brightly because of the light of others.

This family is why I knew I had to try and make my little suburban backyard work. They are major inspirations!! Love them!

The Dervaes family has inspired many gardeners to push the limits of gardening even if living in the city. I don't know or understand the trademark thing but I do know they are not evil money grubbing people and have only tried to put out as much information about urban gardening as they can. I for one am glad the trademark skirmish is over so we can get back to the basics of urban gardening.

I wish that they would back down on their claiming of "urban homesteading" and similar phrases. They have done a fantastic job with getting the message out there about urban farming, but I believe that copyrighting "urban homesteading" or "urban homesteader" etc. has disrespected many others who have worked just as hard and earned the right to use those descriptions. So sorry, but I won't be furthering their message for their gain. Too many out there that aren't doing this for personal gain.

Dervaes trademarked "urban homesteading" phrase and sends orders to Facebook to shut down pages of other urban homesteaders. He has no rights to do it because the phrase is registerd in Supplemental register. Dervaes is absolutely unethical in his action sending letter with prohibition to use "urban Homesteading" phrase - he doesn't own the phrase. His traddemark must be cancelled. Let's do it together www. denverurbanhomesteading.org

This family is my inspiration to create my own suburban 'farm'. My goal is to be mostly self-sufficient with the fruits and veggies and fresh eggs. I've been following them for a couple of years since they were on California's Heartland.
