I've read a couple books about green roofs and have seen some really interesting variations. My favorite was a roof of sea grass. Pretty interesting to see the entire roof waving around.

I wonder if this would be a new building niche, promoting both green building and expansion of what a contractor can do.

I've heard of roof top growing but only in containers. This concept of having the whole roof as a field is totally different. It would definitely require structual integrity that many buildings don't have in the US.

Have a great day.

Recently while looking for a new home, the concept of roof-top gardening was seriously considered. Unfortunately, most of the buildings we looked at did not have enough structural integrity to support such an installation.

Very good info. We are still trying to perfect a green roof on our chicken coop.
