This is a great concept also for small producers in local areas. Often the hardest parts about being an urban farmer is getting the word out to those who would like to have access. Creativity helps, but so does technology.

Seattle has City Fruit - cityfruit.org - that helps people learn about their fruit trees, care for them, and harvest them. For people who don't want to harvest and use the fruit on their trees, CityFruit offers to harvest and deliver the fruits to foodbanks and other organizations that need it. Their website has a tool to map your urban Seattle fruit trees, in addition to educational materials.
