Bruce...I agree gardening in NYC is awesome with close to 500 gardens. That same spirit is alive as well here in Detroit with over 1100 registered gardens and many more unregistered gardens! Even though we have been hard hit, we are very resilient.

I'm glad to hear that all across the country there has been an interest in community gardening. Here in my city the churches have opened up unused land to the public for community gardening use. They ask that none of the produce grown would go to waste and be given to the food kitchens of the city if not wanted. It's a great concept.
