This would also provide seeds that have adapted to the local soil, water, climate and would do better in subsequent generations. My own experience with seed saving has shown that if I save the seeds from the best plants, my quality increases year after year. It's only one part of the equation, but it's an important one.

What a novel idea. It's one of those Duh! moments. It just makes great common sense to grow seeds and save seeds from the local area. I hope it catches on all across the country.
