Hi David,

The Italians in Rapallo celebrate the occasion in the 1500's when supposedly the Maddonna saved Rapallo from a big Saracen pirate attack.

Don't worry! Essentially all of the research to develop perennial grains is using conventional breeding techniques, like humans have used for thousands of years. I don't even know of any OGM labs working on this problem.

Rick, I was going to ask about celebrations in Italy when 4th of July exploded here in the States. I know that Italians don't give a hoot about celebrating the 4th of July but obviously they have a celebration that uses exploding fireworks. What do the Italians celebrate with fireworks?

Perennial grains, huh. I'm kind of with the Italians on this one. I'm a heirloom kind of guy. I'm not too sure about gene splicing or hybridization of plants. I understand how this concept would save considerable energy fuels of the world and that would indeed be a good thing. It's not my passion in life to change the coarse of plant development but I just steer away from the altered plants.

Have a great Italian exploding fireworks celebration day.
