Less work & more fun to work together, yes.

Judy, the midwest was noted for its communal helping during harvesting. Groups of men would gather together to help each other harvest the income crop and groups of women would gather to preserve the garden harvest. I am old enough to remember those times as a young kid. Even the kids were involved and depending how old the boys were determined whether they would help the men or the women. I actually helped, as a teenager, the last small grain thrashing crew harvest the grain. It was on my Uncle's farm. With the community gardens in the city folks are starting to get back to working together to grow and harvest food. It just seems like the right way to socialize. Don't you think?
