I gave up a dog the same way, it hurts. Yet going back to the first owner the dog was right at home.

Audrey, I'm so sorry to hear that you had to give up Red for financial reasons. He sounds like a fine horse that would cause anyone to love him. I'm glad that he has a good home to live and that you can go see him from time to time. It really does pull on a person's heart strings to hear another animal missing their buddy. These financial times are the worst I'm ever seen in my life time. Animals and pets are the first to feel the brunt of the situation and some are just abandoned to fend for themselves. That's really sad. I hope things get better for you real soon.

Have the best fall day that you can.
