With any luck this idea will grow to more landfill sites. Recycle and reuse.

Landfills are a big waste of resources. There is very little that should actually go into a landfill. Organic matter should be composted. Metals, glass, plastics should and could be recycled.

Simply extracting methane is a lazy, unproductive waste of materials. It's always easier to toss something away. It takes planning and involvement to do the right thing.

Whatever happened to methane combustion being a huge source of greenhouse gasses? Did that suddenly change because one city is closing a dump?

If it could be done cleanly, we should all be doing it!
