Easy Cheesy Beer Bread

This practically effortless bread recipe doesn’t need yeast — the beer has it all.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups homebrewed beer (most types of beer will work well)
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese


Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a loaf pan.

In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Stir in beer, mixing well until everything is combined.

Pour mixture into pan, and bake for 45 minutes. Sprinkle cheese on top of crust, and bake for an additional 15 minutes. Cool before slicing.

Makes 1 loaf.

To make it lighter, maybe dough should rest a little before baking..so it is with bread...once all is prepared and mixed, let it rest for one hour or two so beer can make its effect and start working.

This smelled and tasted awesome, but was very dense in texture which is a shame. Anyone have any tips on making it lighter ?.

I tried this recipe and it came out bad, no one liked it. Maybe it was the beer?
