Traditionally made with a light-red table wine, sangria can be made with any kind of wine. Just add a carbonated beverage, fresh fruit and a little sugar or honey.
Ingredients
- 5 cups homemade wine
- 1 cup club soda, citrus soda or ginger ale
- 1/4 cup sugar or honey
- 2 organic oranges
- 2 organic lemons
- 2 cups cubed orchard fruit in any combination (peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, pears or apples)
Preparation
In a large pitcher, combine wine and sugar or honey. Juice one of the oranges and one of the lemons. Add the juice to the wine mixture. Slice the remaining orange and lemon. Add the orange and lemon slices and the cubed orchard fruit to the pitcher. Stir and refrigerate for two to 12 hours. Just before serving, add soda. Ladle into wine glasses.
Makes about 2 quarts.
