The farm stand comes with a standard set of shelving useful for transporting goods or produce, but Kopach explains that the farm stand’s interior design is flexible and can be customized to the city farmer’s needs. The farm stand can also be customized with a logo or design. In addition, with a few adaptations, you can easily run a cash register or credit card reader by solar power in your farm stand.
In addition to the farm stand, the company offers a solar-powered street legal 4-passenger, 6-passenger and flat-bed vehicle ideal for the city farmer. “These vehicles work great for farm chores or running short errands,” Kopach says. “Basically, it’s up to the imagination and creativity of the person to use the vehicle as they want to.”
Kopach clarifies that this vehicle has more uses than just for the American urban farmer. In fact, he says this—or any other solar-powered vehicle—could have worldwide implications.
“Think of how these vehicles can benefit third-world countries where there is no electricity around,” he explains. “They just park this in the sun for a few days to charge it up. No longer having children and women carrying buckets of water on their shoulders for hours—the vehicles will do it for them.”
To help lower the initial cost of a solar-powered vehicle, SEVC offers a trade-in program. The company will accept gas vehicles—such as a used old farm pickup truck or car—to go toward payment of the vehicle.
Before purchasing, Kopach says to check with your city ordinance to ensure the farm stand will be legal on your streets. The mobile farm stand meets all of the standards by the federal government except for weight. All of the company’s other vehicles are street-legal.
The farm stand can be ordered now, but will take 75 to 90 days for delivery, based on inventory. For more information, call 847-656-8100 or visit the Solar Electric Vehicle Company.
