In the Zone
Plan your garden with the USDA plant hardiness zone map.
Before deciding on the crops for your urban farm this year, use the USDA's updated plant hardiness zone map to make sure the ones you choose can brave the climate in your area. Then read plant tags and seed packets to determine the best time for outdoor planting and if the varieties you want to plant will flourish or flop
New on the latest map are two new zones, 12 and 13, which appear on maps for Hawaii and Puerto Rico. You can also view detailed information about your zone down to your street, here. Also available for download are print-quality, simplified and interactive maps, as well as a map based on the zip code you type in.
